Mexican Tariffs covered by USMCA Temporarily Suspended
Canada Goods Tariff Exemption Begins March 7
President Trump has agreed to suspend the 25% tariffs on any merchandise from Mexico that already qualifies, and is covered under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The new effective date for the 25% duty will be April 2nd.
An exemption for USMCA qualifying goods from Canada will take also take effect at 12:01am on March 7. The exemption is for all goods that are entered free under the USMCA agreement, including goods in tariff subchapter XXIII of chapter 98 and tariff subchapter XXII of chapter 99.
President Trump said the exemption will expire April 2nd for Canada, but did not mention that date or any expiration time in his Executive Order.
